Advice on the renewal of import and processing of GM soybean 305423xDAS-44406-6

  • The present application (GMFF-2024-29150) concerns the authorisation of genetically modified (GM) soy 305423xDAS-44406-6 for import and processing for use in feed and food;
  • The stacked event soy 305423xDAS-44406-6 was produced by conventional crossbreeding of the GM parental soy lines;
  • Previously, COGEM has advised positively on the import and processing of all parental lines;
  • The GM soy expresses genes that confer herbicide tolerance as well as an altered fatty acid composition;
  • In the Netherlands, feral soy populations and no wild relatives. The molecular characterization meets the criteria of COGEM and there is no indications that the introduced traits could allow 305423xDAS-44406-6 to survive or establish feral populations;
  • COGEM is of the opinion that import, and processing of soy 305423xDAS-44406-6 poses a negligible risk to the environment in the Netherlands.
